NEW VENUE

As from the January meeting (Thursday 13th. January 2005), we have a new venue. The move was discussed at the AGM in November, when it was explained that the availability of a broadband internet connection had been seen as a very desirable and useful facility for our club meetings. As the Petts Wood Memorial Hall did not have any plans to provide such a facility, we had been looking at alternative venues for some time.

A while ago, we had an enquiry from Orpington Baptist Church (OBC) asking for advice on how they might best install a broadband wireless network throughout their site, and it became evident that we might be able to rent a suitable room there for our club meetings. We recently learned that our request to hold our club meetings there has been approved.

The Orpington Baptist Church is on Station Road just east of Orpington railway station. Buses 51, 61, 208, 353, 358, 477, B14, R1-R9 and R11 all stop nearby. There is a car park accessed from The Drive, or you can park on The Avenue and enter from Tower Road. This link shows a map of the area.

To get in, you will have to ring the doorbell to gain attention.

As before, our meetings will be doors open at 7:30pm, meeting start 8:00pm, finish around 10:00pm and clear by 10:30pm.

Note: OBC have stipulated that they cannot allow any NKACC member to access illegal, pornographic or other unsuitable internet sites while using OBCs on-site broadband internet connection.
