What is a Wiki?
"Wiki wiki" is the Hawaiian term for "quick" or "super-fast."
A Wiki is a web site that allows visitors to edit pages and add content just by using their web browser. It is really simple to use, the best thing to do is to just try it. Go to the
Sandbox and click the Edit button at the top of the screen. The page will load into an edit box where you can edit the content. If you want to do anything special, like add a hyperlink or make some text bold simply click the XWiki Syntax link (below the edit box) to see how it is done. You have a preview button to view your work as you go along, and a save button to keep your finished masterpiece.
And now you're wondering why this site has the hawaiian word for "quickly" as its name. The reason is that the first such website was created by someone at Hawaii University and they named it after the bus which runs to the international airport - the "Wiki Wiki Bus" - because they wanted building a web site to be quick and easy.
